We see clients with different types of referrals/funding methods. You can use the Mental Health Care Plans from GPs, NDIS funding, DVA funding, Work Cover or Compulsory Third-Party funding. Alternatively, you can pay privately as another option and claim through your private health insurance.
1. GP Referrals and Mental Health Care Plans
Vision and M1 Psychology provides a diverse range of Psychological and Counselling Services for doctors and specialists that would like to refer to our clinic.
If you are a GP in our local area you may like to fax the mental health care plan referral (under the better access initiative) to us on (07) 3801 2608.
The Queensland Department of Health provides details on their website which explains about referring to psychologists under Medicare. The following information can be found in the article on the Better Access Initiative:
- There is a maximum limit of 6 sessions permitted in the initial referral (See Step 2 & 3 in the article).
- After the first 6 sessions, the GP can consent to a further 4 sessions if needed, making that a total of up to 10 sessions in a calendar year.
- The GP Medicare item numbers are MBS items 2700, 2701, 2715, 2717; Reviews 2712 and 2713; Psychiatry MBS item 291, 104, 109, 293, 370; Paediatrician MBS numbers 104, 109, 110, 133.
- To see a psychologist and get Medicare rebates, clients require a referral letter from the GP known as the Mental Health Care Plan.
- Search the MBS online for more information
If you are a Psychiatrist or Medical Specialist you may like to speak to our practice manager about the process with referrals and who might be best or available.
We encourage new clients to use our Free Emotional Health Check Up as a way of learning about the clinicians, costs and “who” might be ideal for them. This helps with empowering clients with options. We have more than 30 clinicians across Vision and M1 Psychology, so this helps with the process of picking the right person.
2. NDIS
We see many clients here who are funded by NDIS, either Plan-Managed or Self-Managed. For NDIS Plan-Managed clients, we will bill NDIS directly. For NDIS Self-Managed clients, you will pay for the appointment with your provided funds. Just let us know your NDIS number and how you will be funded at the time of booking. Unfortunately, we are not able to see clients who are NDIA managed.
3. WorkCover or Compulsory Third-Party (CTP)
We also see clients funded by WorkCover or Third-Party Insurance. We do need a letter of proof that they will be funding your sessions and for how many sessions. At the time of bookings, you need to let admins know your claim number and type of WorkCover, Employer name or Third Party Provider. You will also be asked to fill up all these information on your intake forms at your initial session.
To make an appointment try Online Booking, Alternatively, you can call M1 Psychology Loganholme on (07) 3067 9129.
We also provide counselling for many other services that are more suited to private health such as couples counselling, career guidance and business coaching.
Thank you for considering our 6 Day a week, psychology and counselling centre. Our sister clinic Vision Psychology at Wishart is also open 6 days a week and provides the same level of service.
