We always have exciting opportunities for new members to join our amazing team at Vision and M1 Psychology as our organisation is constantly expanding. Many of our previous success stories come from our admin team, who have sought a volunteering work placement with us to compliment their four year university Bachelors degree in Psychology. The core 4 year Psychology degree with honours is a research degree, which lacks a substantial placement. Medicine, nursing, social work and teaching all have several significant face to face placements in the real world during the undergraduate program. By working in this customer facing role, it will assist your professional career in the mental health industry. We are one of the biggest privately run mental health clinics outside of a hospital and the hands on practical experience you get will definitely compliment your 4 year Psychology degree.
Working with us will help develop your interpersonal skills through assisting with our call centre, getting to know who our clients are and understanding the mental health industry better. We are similar to Lifeline which receives thousands of calls a month, so you will definitely be on your toes and there will be plenty to learn. The difference is that we provide the therapeutic interventions and our highly trained and skilled psychologists, psychiatrist, social workers and counsellors are part of our team. A team that significantly helps mental health, by treating mental health!
You will become more business savvy through learning about billing, payments, appointments and managing a range of day to day office administration tasks. Our practice seeks diversity in our administration staff, so it is a definite bonus to have skills in other languages, technology, marketing, medical/health, bookkeeping, phone counselling and being able to work efficiently in teams and in solo.
We have ran very successful volunteer placements over the years and some of our administration team staff have been successful in RPL of TAFE qualifications through the practice pathway, or successfully completed internships with us through to full registration as a Psychologist. Others have been successful in moving from our administration team to new exciting roles in other related fields such as health management, human resources, research and development, accounts management and mental health related positions in hospitals.
We encourage our staff to enrol in future further studies and hope that you will be successful at commencing a Masters or a 5+1 program or PhD program in Psychology or another field. One of the most important aspects of working with us will be learning more about the health sector and meet other Psychology students or those studying other pathways who are keen to find a role that is in the health industry.
