B Occ Thy.
Keira is a Mental Health Occupational Therapist (MHOT) and an Animal Assisted Therapist working with Zumi, a five year old Japanese Spitz.
As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Keira is accredited through Occupational Therapy Australia and Medicare to provide psychologically informed therapy under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (just like our psychologists are).
What is a Mental Health Occupational Therapist (MHOT)?
Mental Health Occupational Therapists have been trained to use frameworks that seek to understand the whole person, including their internal and external experiences, from a neurobiological and psychosocial perspective.
As an MHOT, Keira will explore with you how to recover, adapt and adjust to challenges you might have experienced, to manage and maximise your mental and overall health, functioning and wellbeing. By seeking to understand your holistic experience, Keira works to identify and implement support specifically tailored to you and your unique and personal experience.
Keira recognises the courage it takes to begin the process of therapy and aims to make you feel comfortable and at ease from the moment you walk through the door. You will find Keira a compassionate, deeply caring and accepting therapist who is genuinely interested in, and committed to, getting to know you and supporting you.
Keira brings energy and vitality to the therapeutic relationship whilst having the capacity to attune (meet you where you are at), and provide containment and safety within your session. Taking a generally conversational approach to therapy, means your time together flows naturally, with Keira providing guidance and direction where this feels like the right approach. Where it is safe to do so, Keira seeks to have fun, introduce playfulness, and use humour within sessions. Keira is open to – and in fact encourages – feedback and collaboration in the therapeutic relationship; in this way you can share what works (and what doesn’t), and what most aligns with you throughout the therapy experience.

Keira enjoys working with all ages (including children) and presentations, although has a particular interest in:
