Shannon has worked in a variety of settings including custodial centres, not for profit mental health care services, the Department of Justice and Attorney General, Corrective Services and with voluntary early intervention programs through a number of magistrates’ courts.
This wide variety of exposure has driven Shannon’s interest in delivering support at the early stages for people who are feeling emotionally stressed, burned out, or struggling with anxiety or depression. Shannon believes in strength-based approaches and building up the capacity of the person to support themselves in a sustainable way, by equipping them with strategies to address their issues.
Complex Needs
Through time spent designing and implementing Integrated Care Pathways (ICP) between a number of allied mental health support services, Shannon developed a good understanding into the extra complexity of combined problems and the relationships between multiple presenting issues (co-morbidity).
This can be a common occurrence and Shannon’s experience allows him to identify when and where these cyclic relationships may be affecting the person negatively, and help the individual to build strategies around these factors to help alleviate negative feelings. Shannon can assist with issues such as:
- Depression
- Anxiety

- Relationship Breakdowns
- Emotional Wellbeing
- Stress
- Grief & Loss

Work-Life Balance/Work Stress
A satisfying work-life balance is something many people aspire to, but can be difficult to achieve for a variety of reasons. Shannon’s Master of Organisational Psychology program had a strong focus on exploring such issues, and he has a very keen interest in assessing work stresses and developing strategies to assist people to overcome these hurdles.
Shannon’s postgraduate dissertation research about compliance in the workplace further allowed him to develop skills around helping people who may be feeling burnt out or other negative emotions due to factors at work, at home, or a combination of both.
Psychometric Testing/Psychological Assessment
Shannon’s Master’s program equipped him with the skills required to conduct a variety of psychometric tests, and to write and interpret the associated reports. Such reports can be very important in guiding therapies or become pertinent within organisations making decisions around recruitment, talent management or training. Shannon is proficient across a broad range of psychological assessments, including but not limited to:
- WAIS IV
- NEO-PIR
