Coping With Trauma

September 30, 2022 By Admin

Life events that are frightening, harmful or disturbing may have lasting effects on our psychological health. Trauma is the psychological injury incurred from being involved in or witness to such events. If left untreated, those who have experienced a traumatic event may find it difficult to continue normal functioning or cope with their daily schedules and responsibilities.

Emotional and physical signs that you are dealing with a traumatic event may include;

  • Easily startled
  • Nightmares/Disturbed sleep
  • Disorientation/Confusion
  • Social withdrawal and isolation
  • Avoidance of certain places or events

Thankfully, trauma is treatable. Most people who experience a potentially traumatic event will recover with the help of a trained psychologist. Our team will be able to work with you to provide personalised advice to help minimise distress and get you on your way to living a full and healthy life.
