Bulk billing under a Mental Health Care Plan is currently not an option that we can consider due to rising costs of operations. Medicare unfortunately froze Medicare CPI increases for about 7 years some years ago and this means that the rebate is below the cost possible for someone to offer a service. If they added that extra $50 back into the rebate, then more psychologists would offer these. But, like most professionals, we may choose to offer an individual a significantly reduced rate like a pro bono service, ONLY IF we have the Mental Health Care Plan referral on file to review, IF the referral for 6-10 sessions will significantly treat the conditions listed and IF a suitably qualified clinician can be found.
We will need you to fill in more information on the hardship reason. We will need your healthcare card upon arrival to your appointment. If you do not have a healthcare card, you will need to fill up the hardship form via the intake forms that we email out, to find out more. There are certain factors that might impact who might be best, or be open to take on your referral. For example, there are times when we might have more gaps and on occasion when a clinician might agree to a reduced rate client in a time block that is often not booked as much.
Its important that we offer a service that addresses the referral, sometimes other services or other funding models are better for your situation. We seek to find the right and best treatment, not just throw mud at a wall and hope it helps!
